Willowwind School launched a Montessori preschool in fall 2007 at its new $3.5MM state-of-the-art campus at 950 Dover Street in Iowa City. Willowwind offers a choice of full-time, part-time and extended day options for three, four and five year old children. Willowwind offers a dynamic early childhood learning environment to complement its program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The preschool offers children the opportunity to build their knowledge through self- and teacher-initiated experiences with a schedule and philosophy geared to helping them problem solve, see how knowledge is connected, and create new ideas.

There are three preschool classrooms; each with a full-time lead teacher and assistant teacher. Classrooms are multi-age with 3-, 4-, and 5-year old children grouped together. We work to balance our classroom mix and provide appropriate staffing to support student needs. Classrooms accommodate 20-22 children (approximately 8-9 3-year olds)
